Review Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about how we work? We’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions to help you understand TTGAU’s mission, membership structure, and our day-to-day impact. Whether you are a smallholder farmer looking to join a local TGA, a development partner seeking collaboration, or simply curious about how we support sustainable commercial forestry in Tanzania, you’ll find quick, clear answers right here.
The Tanzania Tree Growers Associations Union (TTGAU) is a national umbrella organization established in 2017 to unite private, commercial smallholder tree growers. Membership is open to registered, village-level Tree Growers Associations (TGAs) rather than isolated individual farmers.
Joining a TGA solves the four biggest barriers to smallholder forestry: it gives members a collective lobbying voice to secure fair timber prices, provides access to heavily subsidized high-quality seeds, delivers professional technical training, and helps establish communal wildfire prevention networks.
